Model History This Talbot model was one of the first of a new class of car - the ‘Light Car’, designed for the younger, newly-mobile clientele emancipated during the First World War. About 1500 of the 8/18 model were produced between 1922 and 1924, initially selling for £325 (equivalent to £60,000 today), and falling to £250, (equivalent to £40,000 nowadays) by the end of manufacture at Talbot’s Barlby Rd, West London, works. Even light cars weren’t cheap by today’s standards. XO 7092 This car, chassis number 12208, is the oldest surviving Talbot 8/18. After being exhibited at the Scottish Motor Show in 1922, it was used as a dealer demonstrator before being bought for young Miss Lenanton by her wealthy father. The sequence of owners is known from 1950 to date. It competed in a Vintage Sports Car club light car race at Silverstone in 1953. NS
