When using the search facility in the Members Directory I have noticed that if you use just a 3 letter term then the search looks for just that three letter combination in the whole of the data in the directory. Would there be any advantage in restricting the search to just the christian name and surname to give a better result? Would one loose anything by doing this? I assume not since in using the Members directory one is looking for a particular person.

Hi Gordon
I'm probably being dense, but I still don't see your point. The search facility for members is a row of the letters of the alphabet. If you highlight "G" it will show you yourself and me etc being Gordon and Guy. I'd rather it searched on the first letter of a surname but haven't worked out how to change that. I can't see any other searchable information as you state, eg country. Maybe we're not looking in the same place?!
Best regards
Guy

Here are two screen shots that clearly shows how the search function is working. In one case it is searching for "gor" and has pulled up all three letter "gor" wherever it occurs in the database for Members Directory. In the other case it is searching for "Gordon" and pulled up all occurrences for "Gordon." If the search function could be made to search only the Christian and surname fields this would be much more efficient. I hope this illustrates the point I was making.
Best regards
Gordon
