Guy,
Indeed there is that "Last Post" button but on my Safari browser but it only looks at "All Time" and pulls up the first post of the thread rather than the latest. However in the 'Filter' tab on the right hand side there is a drop down menu of the filters you can apply. In the left hand column you can click on on the time period you wish to examine. What is needed are two features - one to have your chosen filter stored as your own selection so when you select "Latest Activity" your own preference is used rather than the default "All Time" and secondly show the latest post for the topic, i.e. the bottom of the thread, selected by the filter rather than the initial post of that thread. I believe that this is possible. is used

How come that this post is not picked up by the "latest activity" button whatever filter is used? What is going wrong with this software and what is being done to improve the Forum performance? Do the VBulletin people offer any help or is there a users support help forum that can help the club? What can we learn from how the STD Forum performs?

Hi James - senior moment - "Last Post" has been there all along ! This shows you the last post made for each topic. Of course, if someone has answered your post, their's will show as the last post. This can be found on the line near the top of the page starting "Directory" Hope this helps Guy

Hi James
as I said, I've tried to get "latest posts" as an easy way to find posts such as your's without success. Glyn has promised to look at sorting this which should then sort out your issues and make navigation round the forum a lot easier. Hope the 95 is progressing well

Hi Gordon and Guy,
It has just taken me 20 minutes to find this as I had forgotten where I had left it, and there does not appear to be any guidance on the front page as to what has happened recently. I am disappointed with the replies. I had hoped that someone would have told me to click a few times in various places to alter the set up in my computer. I shall leave it in your very capable hands, Guy, whilst i go back to setting up the brakes on my 95. No Perrot shafts there Gordon! Keep up the good work, both of you.
James.

Guy,
Thanks for your speedy reply. And many thanks for your time and efforts - I am sure that you are right when you say getting the software to do what you want is not an easy task.

I'm not from an IT background and I've set up the forum as best I could and some of it by trial and error. It's not the easiest software to use and I've spent 2 hours yesterday and today trying to set up last posts without success. I've passed it on to Glyn who will try to sort it out. We are trying!!

James,
I totally agree with your sentiments on this forum. I post as much and I can do on this forum as a matter of principle to try and ensure it is used and is a success. In comparison the STD forum is much better in being able too keep abreast of what is happening in that community. It is my first port of call and I am rarely disappointed by lack of content. Without understanding the complexities of the issues involved it seems to me that the DTD is blessed by having members who are reals experts in the field of developing forum software to provide what the members seek. It seems too me that any forum software requires considerable expertise to use the provided tools to write modifications in order to get the forum to deliver what the members wish. Please note that I am specifically referring to our New Forum and not the rest of the TOC website.

I don't know if anyone will read this, or if I will ever be able to find any reply. This forum annoys me intensely. When I enter the forum I am unable to find the latest replies. I have to search each topic, Every topic seems to have a date, but that date refers to the date it was started and not the date of the latest contribution, This one is dated 24.01.19 and that date will not alter, regardless of later additional posts, such as this. When I go into the Std forum, it comes up immediately with the posts, if that is the right word, that have been added since my last visit. How do I make this forum act in a similar way. Don't forget you are daealing with a Luddite and a technophobe, so make the answer simple, please.

Background to the new T.O.C. Forum
The new T.O.C. Forum has replaced the original forum which has served us well for many years. The old forum will continue to be in place but posts will eventually be transferred to this new forum and found under "Old Forum". The new forum reflects the fact that many of the old forum items now appear on the T.O.C.Website. These include the electronic archive, events, service/supplier recomendations, magazine & technical information, regalia and items for sale and wanted.
Model groupings have been condensed, in particular the "Roesch" models as many topics are common to all.Tags: None
