  • Sunbeam Talbot Owners Club

I've just come across this badge on eBay.
Does the Sunbeam Talbot Owners Club still exist? How come they use the TOC badge?
Does anyone know the history behind this?

    HI Dudley,

This badge was designed by George Roesch for the "Talbot "Owner's club and used by them for a very short period before 1935 when Rootes took over. The name "Sunbeam" was added to the badge for the benefit of the owners of Rootes group cars thus named. I think it all fizzled out before the war. Over the years I have seen far more Sunbeam Talbot versions for sale than Talbot ones. I have one which has a low number, in the hundreds which was issued with a new Talbot 10 of 1938. I think I was told that all purchasers of the relevant cars when new automatically became members of the STOC.

I should have Googled the STOC first! Apparently it ran from 1936 to 1968 and was then resurrected in 2005 by a company that makes spares for post-war Sunbeam-Talbots. They don't appear to use the badge any longer.
      Here is a link:
S.T.O.C established 1936, following the take over by The Rootes Brothers of the Sunbeam & Talbot Car companies. The club was open to any Sunbeam-Talbot owner and ran until Chrysler took over The Rootes Group in 1968, when it was disbanded. The club was reformed in 2005 by Sunbeam-Talbot Spares
