  • Carpets for closed AM75

It's a while since I posted here but I wonder if I can ask anybody who's retrimmed a saloon or better still, have an original interior, for a bit of guidance?

I am about to put new chestnut brown wilton carpet into my AM75 saloon and need to bind the carpet edges. Given my car is an early 30s model, I think the works carpets would have been leather bound, to match the seats but I could be wrong. I think, by the late 30s and into the 50s and 60s trimmers were using cotton herringbone tape but was it used earlier than that?

Please can anyone with a 1930 to 1935 Talbot saloon let me know what carpet binding your car has and any comments you think will help.

    Thank you!

Hi Doug, what you are thinking could well be right. My 1934 95 luxury saloon had green leather seats originally and the carpets were green, edged with green leather.
