    According to Vinnie Rawlings, all 90s came with a tacho as standard. These were driven from the rear of the camshaft, which had a drive cog pinned to a protrusion on it's rear. 75s did not have a tacho as standard but were available as an option. The 75 Sport may have had one from standard too.
    He also told me that, where an AM (and presumably AW) 75 had one fitted as an option, it was positioned in the wooden dashboard to the right of the steering wheel and not in the main binnacle. His AM90 (WD2797) also has it's tachometer in this position - see attached photo.
    The tacho with clock combo may only be a feature of the later cars, it would seem.

    On the BD 75 fitted with camshaft part number 101037 this shaft has a different tachometer drive arrangement. The rear end of the shaft does not have a hole through it for securing the gear drive but has a slot which is believed to drive a small generator for an electric tachometer as on Jaguars of that time.

    Hi Gordon,

    It seems that if you didnt have a tacho you got a large clock in the space where it would have been. If you had a tacho, the clock was part of it.

    Thanks for your information. It does indeed seem possible that they were an optional extra. And I think that applies to the 14hp as well as the 18hp. It has been suggested that if you had the tachometer you didn't get then clock as there was no room in the central instrument panel. On my Scout I have both but the tachometer is mounted on the wooden fascia to the right of the steering wheel.

    I had a tachometer and cable with the angled box on the end to connect to the drive from the rear of the camshaft. Unfortunately I didn't have the drive from the camshaft so I sold the 3" rev counter and cable to another member and have fitted an electronic rev counter instead. I don't think my 75 saloon had a rev counter so I think they might have been an optional extra

    Does anybody know which Roesch models were originally fitted with tachometers? Spare parts lists for the 14/45 AD and AG refer to the drive from the rear of the camshaft. The 18hp spares parts list conspicuously make no mention of tachometers drives. The drawings for 21hp camshafts shows provision of tachometer drive gear at rear of shaft. Any 18 hp owners know whether their cars were originally fitted with a tachometer? Does anyone have a drawing of the original camshaft, part number 100626?
