The T.O.C. spares committee was reconstituted from 2019 and the first meeting held on January 10.
The committee consists of Guy Gregory, Ian Potts, Martin Bryant, John Dodd and James Fack
    Talbot Spares Policy
The Talbot Owners’ Club is deeply committed to supporting members with both new and second hand spares with a view to keeping as many cars on the road as possible.
This is achieved firstly by maintaining a stock of second hand spares mainly acquired through the generosity of, or purchase from club members. Details can be seen on the club website.
The spares committee liaises with the main Talbot specialists and other key stockists concerning new spares to ensure there is no overlap and to look to produce spares, mostly of a consumable nature which will benefit members and the specialists alike. A listing of available spares including modern equivalent parts from all sources can be found on the club web site. Club reserves have been ring fenced for the purpose of new spares manufacture.
The spares committee will meet on a regular basis to review both second hand and new spares availability and to listen to members’ and specialists needs including thoughts on new spares they think would be worth producing
We will also make available members’ recommendations for suppliers and information

    Actions so far:
Secondhand spares held by the T.O.C. listing now on the web site and here
New spares listing now on the web site and here - awaiting information from a major supplier
Once we have all the new spares listings we will identify any gaps, work with the major suppliers and look to jointly or solely produce needed products
Started to build a list of modern equivalent parts suitable for Talbots
Started to build a list of firms that will undertake rebuilds of cars and/or components
Work with the STD re secondhand and new parts
Build a "facts" technical sheet for each model to help with servicing etc
Members have been asked for recommendations

Keep an eye on this thread for future developments!

    News July 2019
    • dynamotor brushes - we have negotiated a special price of £52.15 plus VAT for a set (usual price is £76.57 plus VAT). All members should consider carrying a spare set
    • Radiator cap seals - Foppe d'Hane has these and David Cooke is also looking at their manufacture. Ian Polson also has a source and Martin Bryant is also investigating. Again, all members should consider carrying a spare (a car was transported back from Europe after a seal failure!)
    • Foppe is also having the special screws that hold the starter and ignition buttons remanufactured

When will the new brush sets be available? What are the diameters of the commutator on the different Rotax models? It would be so convenient sent to be able to put the relevant curvature in on a simple jig.

        Spares news July 28 2019

        1. 105 rockers - Fop can refurbish your rockers on an exchange basis - the rocker pin is made oversize and the rocker bored out. I would guess most 105s would benefit from these
        2. we are investigating new steering ball joints with cups and springs - again all Talbots would probably benefit from these, most are worn oval and lacking in spring tension - watch this space!
        3. dynamotor brushes should be with us by now - I need to check this
        4. Fop has new stainless steel semi domed screws to attach your ignition switch / starter button

We have asked Foppe to ask his friendly engineer friend to price up new steering ball joints, cups and castellated covers. Foppe can get the springs, so we can offer complete ball joint replacements - track rods and steering drop arm/drag link. Watch this space!
